"The Games We Play" training course will take place in Lecce, Italy 16th – 24th April 2020.
It will bring together 24 participants from Croatia, Italy, Macedonia, Spain, Romania and Romania.
The aim of this training course is to equip youth workers with  basic competences needed to facilitate the learnig process of of groups with the addition of gamification elements.

Youth workers will be empowered in putting them immediatelly in practice within a frameworks and space where to create high-quality educational games that address social inclusion among youth.
During the main activity, participants will have the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge in building and leading the learning process of groups while using educational games and gamification elements

GOALS OF THE PROJECT

-  Understanding of the role of youth workers in a position of trainer/ facilitator while providing them with practical skills in designing, implementing and facilitating learning processes of groups.
- Planning and implementing program for non-formal education activity (workshops, trainings etc.) including in them Gamification Elements and Educational Games adapted to their work with young people at risk of social exclusion.
- Improvement of team work skills and
leading a team (working in large teams, small teams and pairs)

Explore and implement gamified activities and educational Games as a powerful methodology with broad potential from the experiential, pedagogical and social point of view, to youth workers directly working with young people at risk of social exclusion.
- Apply the knowledge and skills acquired by participants by developing and facilitating youth programs with non formal education methods and educational games in their organisations during the Follow-Up and Dissemination phase, having a direct impact on youth at risk of social exclusion.

Create a tool box using the methods created and tested by the participants, and share it with organisations and youth workers working for the empowerment and social inclusion of youth at risk of facing social exclusion, including youth from any other background.

WHAT CAN YOU GET OUT OF THE PROJECT?

- Understanding of the role of youth worker in a position of trainer/ facilitator in the learning process of groups
- Knowledge of important inclusion and social topics for Europe and understanding of key concepts,
frameworks and models such as non-formal education, facilitating creative processes, experiential
learning, group dynamics.

- Knowledge of game creating frameworks and approaches and of competences needed as a youth leader and non‐formal education practitioner.

- Specific basic tools and methods in the area of learning process facilitation, gamification and educational games development e.g. energizers, role plays, simulation games, and outdoor activities through non-formal education.

- Competences in adapting/designing gamified methods and educational game, activities and processes based on the needs of specific target groups.

- Experience in creating and leading creative non-formal education gaming sessions.

WHO CAN APPLY?

THIS PROJECT IS FOR YOU IF:
- you are 24+
- you are a youth leader or a youth worker, who has some experience, but more important desire to develop and gain a "level up" in your youth work

- you are resident of Croatia, Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, Spain.
- you are willing and committed to working through
the whole main activity (about 8 hours per day)

- you are willing and committed to take part in all the 3 phases of the project as above listed: Preparation, Training Course, Follow-Up and Dissemination Phase
- you are motivated to explore and
submerge into the topic of facilitating learning process of group through gamification and educational games.

PROGRAM

Day 1: Welcome, Programme and group introduction
Day 2: Learning in non-formal context, what is gamification and how can I use it in my work?
Day 3: Getting into gamification, exchanging tools, practices and techniques
Day 4: Cultural learning, educational games, design thinking exercises
Day 5: Ideas design and sharing, group dynamics
Day 6: Submerging into gamification L.A.R.P.  time
Day 7: Putting in practice what learnt, testing phase, workshops time
Day 8: Closing of the project, planning of the 3rd phase
Day 9: Departure Day
 
N.B: In order to be fully present and reach the goals of the training, alchol IS NOT allowed for the whole duration of it.
 
N.B: In order to provide safe environment suitable for the learning process, we ask you to fully commit and respect COVID-19 safety mearsure such wearing face mask, keep social distance, wash or sanitize your hands often.

Arrival Day: 30 September 2021 by 17:00
Start of the Programme: 30 September 2021 evening
End of the Programme: 7 October 2021 after dinner
Departure Day: 8 October 2021 after breakfast

If you are selected we require that you take part during the 3 phases of the project and during the whole training.
If you are selected we are ask to commit and respect the COVID-19 safety measures as require by the Italian Government.
If you wish to arrive earlier or leave later than the arrival and departure dates for sightseeing, we ask you to take care of your own accommodation for the extra nights.
Early and late travel may not exceed 48h hours before the start of the program and after the end of the program.
Meaning in this case 29th September the earliest and 9th October the latest.
The training course is co-funded by ERASMUS+ through Agenzia Italiana per I Giovani.
Selected candidates will receive the
CONFIRMATION LETTER via email.
Selected candidates are asked to send us a travel plan by email, which has to include dates, timing and means of transportation from respetive places to the venue of the training course, within 5 days from receiving confirmation letter.
We will then send approval of the travel plans. Only then you can book your tickets within the next
2 days.
DO NOT book any travel tickets before receiving approval of the travel plan from us.

COSTS AND REIMBURSEMENT

– The project being implemented by and NGO requires participants to become members and contribute to the project itself with a membership fee of 35€ for Italians and Spanish, 30€ for Croatians and Romanians, 25€ for Bulgarians, which you will pay upon arrival.
– Travel costs, accommodation food and the program itself are co-funded by the European Union through the ERASMUS+ program.
– The travel costs will be reimbursed for
the amount showed in the original boarding passes, tickets and invoices, up to the limits indicated in the chart on the side.
- Costs for Covid-19 tests will be reimbursed up to the maxium amount allowed for your travel.
– Please note that the amounts on the side are the
MAXIMUM amounts that will be reimbursed, all the costs exceeding these amounts should be covered by the participant (including Covid-19 tests costs) as well as the costs for accommodation sustained in case you decide to start your travel before the arrival day and after the departure day.
– For this reason is essential that you 
keep and bring all the original tickets and invoices of the travelling.
– In order to be entitled to reimbursement, we ask you to participate
fully in the 3 phases of the project.

STAGE 8

VENUE AND ACCOMODATION

"The Games We Play" will take place in the city of Lecce, in Apulia region in the south of Italy.
Our accomodation for the duration of the project will be "
Hotel Zenit".
Hotel Zenit is a cosy and renewed 3 stars hotel with restaurant, training and conference rooms inside.
The hotel is close to the highway connecting Lecce with Brindisi (where the closest airport is),

just 300 meters away from where the shuttle to the airport stops.
The hotel offers free WI-Fi connection, internet points, rooms with balconies.

Participants will be accomodated in  non mixed rooms fitting COVID-19 safety measures.
Walking distance to the city center is 20 min.

The closest airports to reach Lecce are in Bari (about 150km away) and Brindisi (about 35km away).
The hotel respects all the COVID-19 safety measures requested by the Italian government providing adequate spaces and PPEs needed for the implementation of the acvities.

The departure date is 8th October 2021 after breakfast.

STAGE 9

PREPARATION

After receiving the confirmation letter we will ask you to follow these steps:

 - Confirm your participation, prepare a travel plan and send it us for confirmation
- After our confirmation, arrange your travel, book your tickets and inform us and send us copies of them.
- Join the "The Games We Play"
Facebook group (link will be provided in the Confirmation Letter).
- Follow and complete the WHOLE Gamified Preparation Process, the link is provided in the Confirmation Letter and it will be re-posted in the Facebook group of the Training Course.

- Prepare a couple of energizers ready to be presented in the duration of the TC.

STAGE 11

COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES

In order to prevent the spreading of the virus and provide the needed safe environment for the implementation of the activities, according with the current Italian regulations, you are required to:
-  Fill out a digital Passenger Locator Form (only in case of lack of necessary tools to fill out the dPLF, you can use a paper-based self-declaration.
  • Bring with you and present to the carrier and any other authorised person(we will ask it as well), an EU digital Covid Certificate showing proof that you have either: 

    • been vaccinated against COVID-19 with an EMA authorised vaccine and you have completed the prescribed vaccination cycle since at least fourteen days; 

    • received a negative result of a molecular or antigenic test carried out in the 48 hours before your arrival; 

    • recovered from COVID-19 and you are no longer under prescription of self-isolation. 

- In case you need to take PCR or Antigenic test, we will reimburse the costs of the test (up to the maximum amount of your travel budget.

- Bring your own face masks (more than one) to be used during your stay. The hotel provides hand sanitizer in the common spaces.
N.B. IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING OR ABLE TO RESPECT COVID-19 SAFETY RULES, SUCH WEAR A FACE MASK IN ANY INDOOR SITUATION AND RESPECT SOCIAL DISTANCING DURING THE WHOLE PERIOOD OF THE TRAINING COURSE, WE INVITE YOU TO TAKE A LOOK TO OTHER OPPORTUNITIES AND DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS PROJECT.

STAGE 12

PHASE 3 - FOLLOW UP

- After the TC ends, we will ask you to write a “The Games We Play” - short Testimonials in which you will share your personal experience during the project and the impact that it had on you. You will share with us and your sending organizations your testimonials together with pictures and/or videos.
- "Follow -Up Phase" You will create
workshop/event using non-formal education methods, gamification elements and educational games in your local communities for a group of young participants, to exploit the results of our project, and to have a real impact at the local level in all 6 countries, reaching your target group for the empowerment and social inclusion of youth at risk off facing social exclusion, including youth from any other background.
- The event and its results will be
shared through our and our partner online platforms.
- We will ask you to fill in a report form of your event that together with picture will be put in the "The Games We Play Booklet" containing the educational games created during the training and the ones created during the follow up events.

N.B: ONLY after follow-up activities you will get reimbursement for the costs.

L’ Arca del Blues is a NGO active in the field of education, personal and professional development, professional skills and youth support.
L’Arca del Blues was founded in 2012 with the aim of supporting the enhancement of quality of living, professional skills and development of human potential through powerful educational and personal development experiences.
Activities in L’Arca del Blues are focused on youth support, education and personal growth.
The methods include formal and non-formal ways: frontal lectures and workshops, music, experiential learning, learning by playing, creativity, theater, media, dance etc…
